Courtney Holmes

Founder

Courtney is an Australian writer whose work explores the intricacies of human relationships and emotion to create a deeply intimate experience for the reader. She tells stories about love, longing, heartbreak, and reclamation through poetry and prose. Courtney has independently published four books under her brand For The Lovers, and is on a mission to empower other writers to explore their own voice and take the leap into the publishing world—whether it’s a book of poems, a memoir, or a shiny new blog.

Courtney’s background in music studies, dance and yoga teaching gives her a unique voice and understanding of writing as a form of self-expression—bridging the gap between body and mind.

  • Writing in particular can be a lonely art form—we don’t have the art gallery openings, the open-mic nights and gigs to connect with fellow artists; we rely solely on social media, and on the hope that someone, somewhere, might stumble across our work and take a chance on it. Sometimes it all just feels like a shout into the void—from the safety of our couch, writing desk or bed.

  • I write because my heart cannot contain all that it holds, because I am passionate—perhaps to my own detriment, and I cannot keep my mouth shut. If my words touch even one soul floating out there, enough that they feel less alone, then I have succeeded.
